Longman Lindsey have been working with MADD Equities and DREAM on the transformation of a former ice warehouse into K-12 charter school and main campus. The project is sized at 188,000 SF, and will include dining spaces, design labs, art and dance classrooms, library, and rooftop gymnasium.

The century-old building, vacant for decades, offered large windows and arched terra-cotta ceilings throughout. To help the design team determine the quantity and location of acoustic treatment that would make the space conducive to learning, but maintain unique existing features, we created 3D models to simulate acoustic interior environment with various options. Existing conditions include ceiling heights ranging up to 20 feet. The Hall of Dreams is a study/library environment being created within a three-story former ice making annex.

The renovation includes a rooftop play space and addition that will house a gymnasium / multipurpose space. We conducted extensive testing of the existing building structure to provide guidance on noise and impact attenuation options. We look forward to the completion of this special project, as 20 Bruckner Boulevard prepares to welcome students of the twenty-first century.
