Longman Lindsey were the acoustical consultants on the renovation and rehabilitation of this Upper East Side historic townhouse. The building included event and reception spaces on multiple floors, as well as five floors of residential space.
The project included all new HVAC systems and equipment, and we undertook various analyses to ensure attenuation measures were suitable to provide the highest caliber interior acoustic standards. Careful review of exterior equipment was also essential, given the proximity of neighboring buildings.

We conducted environmental noise assessments to outline criteria for new windows, to reduce intrusive noise due to street traffic. We also reviewed surface finishes within both the reception spaces and residences to provide comfortable level of reverberation, as well as sound separation between residential spaces and multipurpose event areas. Event spaces included historic existing interior finishes, which required careful acoustic study.
