Univision’s installation of a new TelePresence room in their 605 Third Avenue headquarters required our acoustical expertise. The new high-tech multi-screen/camera/microphone system helps Univision manage online meeting and “in-person” collaboration.
Because of the sensitivity of the new equipment installation, we investigated acoustic issues to ensure the room complies with the specific criteria set by the manufacturer. Our investigation found that the nearby proximity of three mechanical devices servicing private offices would be a concern for the operation of the TelePresence room within the room guidelines. Constructing our details mitigated the heat pumps’ noise transmission. We also advised on the type and placement of acoustic panels along the sidewalls to ensure the proper room acoustics and reverberation. Our recommendations sufficiently limited the noise levels within the TelePresence room within the design requirement, enabling Univision to use this new technology and maximize their investment and increase their options for collaboration.
