AT&T’s offices at 440/400 Harrison Street, White Plains have two generators on the ground floor. They planned to convert the second floor to office space, AT&T asked our office to analyze the situation and outline any noise and/or vibration control that may have been needed for the generators, located directly below the future offices.
While on site, we surveyed likely transmission paths from the generators along the structure of the building. To reduce the sound transmission to the office space, we recommended options, such as a secondary ceiling and a purpose-built enclosure, to enclose both of the generators and a new exhaust muffler. In addition to the generators, the refrigeration machines were a potential concern to future office space due to the settings of vibration isolators. Upon our inspection, we identified simple adjustments that would greatly improve the effectiveness of the isolators.
