We provided an acoustical review for the renovation of 380 Madison Avenue, a 24-story, 1 million SF building. The owner underwent significant work to upgrade the structure’s low ceilings, replace the heating and cooling convector units, reclad the building, and replace core systems such as the property’s elevators and HVAC systems.
Architectural recommendations included surface finishes for enhanced interior acoustics in public space, lease language regarding the location of sensitive tenant spaces, and treatment of bathroom and mechanical equipment rooms to reduce noise transmission. Our mechanical recommendations included guidelines for device location and orientation, methods for reducing radiated noise to future tenant spaces, treatment to drainage and chilled water piping noise, and vibration isolation methods. Our design recommendations assisted in the transformation of 380 Madison to ensure a first-class tenant and client environment.
