We provided acoustical consultation for Town Sports International’s premier boutique fitness center at 555 Sixth Avenue. The challenge of this project was to acoustically isolate the luxurious fitness center from apartments located above and the adjacent retail spaces. To achieve this, we completed an analysis of the airborne and structure-borne sound transmission between the fitness center and the residential spaces above.
Our acoustical recommendations incorporated the best use of the proposed floor plan for fitness spaces, the most effective floor details, special sound barrier construction, and materials to mitigate noise and vibration from treadmills, all based on our extensive experience with fitness center noise and vibration/impact control.
