Our work for Bloomberg LP has encompassed their offices across the globe, including Asia Pacific, EMEA, Latin America, and North America. Our efforts were directed towards helping Bloomberg maximize their acoustic privacy while maintaining the cornerstone of their corporate culture: transparency.
To support this effort, we conducted a study of open plan office privacy where business and reporting groups were in close proximity. This benchmark was the beginning of a series of office-specific studies to identify options related to background noise level, surface finishes, and physical barriers which would increase speech privacy. The culture of transparency extended to construction in the workplace, as most conference room walls and doors are of glass construction. We created 3-D acoustic models to assess various surface finish options, calibrated with measurements in existing spaces. This enabled us to advise Bloomberg on options that would balance sound absorption with transparency in a balance that suited their requirements.
